Over the past 20 years, ProActive English has trained many French-speaking employees working in U.S. or French companies as global IT consultants, management consultants, software developers and operations managers all over the world.

Interestingly, about 60% of English vocabulary comes directly from or via a Romance language, which means that French and English share much common vocabulary.  This also means that speakers of both languages experience many false cognates - words which seem to have the same meaning in the two languages, but don't.  One example is the verb attendre, in French meaning to wait, whereas in English, to attend means to be present at, or to go to.

The French education system has put increasing premium on learning English through the school system and a growing number of French-based companies are having a significant impact on the global economy, so we are seeing more French speakers of English needing high-level English training for employees.
